GHOST RIVER THEATRE

“...no one is better at mounting a totally unique and exquisitely creative piece of work.” Jessica Goldman, CBC Radio

Ghost River Theatre (GRT) is an award-winning devised theatre company that creates, develops, and mounts original productions through a significant investment in imaginative research and development. Led by Artistic Director Eric Rose and Executive Director Kate Stadel, the company makes its work in a rigorous and supportive collaborative-creation environment. Its productions embrace a hybrid of high-tech visual spectacle with low-fi theatrical magic. Over its 26-year history, GRT has created and toured some of the most thoughtful, daring, imaginative, and seemingly impossible work produced in Canada. Its impressive roster of critically acclaimed productions includes Mesa, Eye for an Eye, ONE, The Highest Step in the World, The Last Voyage of Donald Crowhurst, and the ground breaking Six Senses Performance Series including a binaural adaptation of Ray Bradbury’s Tomorrow’s Child for a blindfolded audience. Its newest collaboration with Makambe K. Simamba, Makambe Speaks was selected to showcase at the 2021 Spotlight Canada: The Pitch Session at Edinburgh Fringe and will tour in the 22/23 season.
