ZOO DANCE

Zoo Dance introduces four dancing zoo friends - the precise peacock, the sociable tropical yellow bird, the patient turtle, and the demanding tiger. One day, ‘the mysterious blue’ shows up and the animals must say good-bye to their beloved home. Integrating classical ballet, jazz, Latin, and traditional South Asian dance, Zoo Dance reflects on Alberta’s 2013 flood which impacted the city of Calgary including its zoo, and explores themes of displacement, how different personalities can work together, and how we all have something valuable to contribute in times of need. After the show, the young audience is invited on stage for creative movement activities with the artists.
